Food Plant Engineering, originally known as Henry A. Lurie & Associates, was established in 1953. The founder, Henry Lurie, was an engineer for a meat packing company and identified a gap in the market for design firms that truly understood the needs of food processing companies. Consequently, he set up a firm dedicated to providing innovative design solutions specifically for USDA-inspected facilities, focusing on their unique production and facility requirements.
