Atritor Limited, a machine tool company, was established in the 1920s in Coventry. The company's inception was based on a unique concept of fueling rotary kilns in cement works, developed by a relative of the owner, Alfred Herbert. The idea was to create a machine capable of processing lump coal into a fine powder, which could then be fed into the kiln burner. This machine, named the Atritor, was designed to be robust and resistant to the abrasive nature of coal pulverising. The company also offers services in drying, milling, separation, and produces cell mills, dryer pulverizers, ast dryers, and turbo separators.
